The VMware Virtualization Engineer is a key element within the LANAIR team infrastructure and is expected to provide an advanced level of technical expertise with the implementation of Microsoft and other leading IT solutions. We want to add a qualified individual to our project team who will initially be responsible for the design, installation, and configuration of Microsoft solutions for clients.


GENERAL SUMMARY:

Primary Responsibilities:

The VMware Virtualization Engineer will primarily be responsible for the installation, configuration, migration, and troubleshooting of the following solutions:
  • VMware vSphere
  • Citrix XenApp/XenDesktop
  • Dell EqualLogic
  • Dell Compellent
  • Windows Servers
  • Dell PowerEdge Servers

Initial Requirements:
  • Must live within 30 miles of the Glendale location due to working out of this office daily (LANAIR Group, LLC. 620 N. Brand Blvd 6th Floor, Glendale CA 91203).
  • Must have the ability to quickly become familiar with and to communicate our solutions to engineers and client resources
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. This position requires extensive communications internally and externally through email, phone calls, and face to face meetings.

Experience Desired
  • 5+ years of experience with VMware
  • Expertise in Virtualization technologies such as Microsoft and VMWare
  • Experience with Windows Server platforms
  • Advanced knowledge of clustering services, load balancing and replication services.
  • Demonstrated experience in creating documentation of designs and solution.
  • Exposure to various facets of data center and branch office build-out including planning, designing and implementation of Microsoft systems
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex enterprise solutions to internal staff and client

Additional Responsibilities
  • Provide senior level leadership to all engineering staff
  • Resolves escalated issues inside and outside of expertise.
  • Provides training to peers and promotes teamwork.
  • Works well with all department members, and company personnel. Keeps communication clear, concise and consistent. Utilizes all company resources including cell, laptop, IM and email effectively.
  • Provides superior client communication skills.
  • Works on multiple projects or tasks well with a sense of urgency and completing tasks on schedule.
  • Able to quickly assess situations that require escalation to vendor support.
  • Contributes and maintain knowledge base as it pertains to client hardware, network information, internal and general knowledge technical publications.

Technical Skills Required
  • Computer Science/Engineering Degree or equivalent experience is a minimum
  • Certifications:
  • VMware VCP-DCA
  • Citrix CCP-V
  • Microsoft MCSE (Server and/or Messaging)
  • Dell Compellent Certified Installer
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills.
