Careers / IP Telephony Engineer



 
We are seeking a Level 2 IP Telephony Engineer to work out of our Valparaiso, Indiana office during the 11A – 8PM shift. As a Level 2 IP Telephony Engineer you are a key element within the LANAIR IP Telephony support infrastructure and are expected to provide a high level of technical support to our customers. The engineer is expected to apply technical problem solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve VOIP related service requests on a day to day basis.


GENERAL SUMMARY:


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Administration of ShoreTel phone systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot call flow issues
  • Troubleshooting telephone and network related issues including general IT network troubleshooting
  • Understanding of and ability to work with carriers to support SIP, PRI, analog, and other telephone trunk technologies
  • Familiarity with virtualization platforms running ShoreTel servers and appliances
  • Analyzing, isolating, and resolving issues as they arise on a Shoretel phone system
  • Communicating with support customers daily on all requests through to resolution within our SLA’s

Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree or 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Self-learner, self-starter, and works well independently
  • Must be detailed in documenting information and practice good follow through techniques
  • Ability to prioritize requests based on SLA and commitments
  • General problem solving abilities
  • Familiarity with the Microsoft Server operating system
  • Advanced knowledge in installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining VoIP phone systems
  • Working knowledge in networking for the purpose of troubleshooting VoIP issues
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work in order to maintain required productivity levels
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong time management skills
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to work the 11A – 8PM shift Monday through Friday
  • Ability to work within the On-Call engineer rotation for after-hours support
  • Submit to a background check prior to hiring.
  • Ability to work out of the LANAIR NWI office full time
  • Assist IP Telephony Support Services Team with issue resolution.

The most competitive candidate will have the following:
  • ShoreTel Installer and Support Engineer certifications for all ShoreTel branded offerings
  • Experience installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining phone systems
  • Call Center experience is a plus
